Shade Garden Progression

The shade garden started as a small enclosure.  The wire was supposed to deter the chickens from scratching around and ruining the plants.  After we planted the first round of Foxglove we realized that chickens and Foxglove don't do well together.  Oh, the chickens were fine, but the Foxglove died.  The chickens ate it down to nothing and killed it.  The first photos I took of the garden were with a cheap little digital camera.

After a couple of years we decided to expand the area and put up a better fence.  In the meantime we bought a fairly good digital camera and I started taking photos more regularly.

There is a 'redbird' (Cardinal) nesting in the Winter Honeysuckle directly behind the red flowers.

I identified the Mystery Plant (red blossoms) as Clerodendrum speciosissimum.  It has put up 4 new plants from the root, I think if given it's way this plant could become invasive!  But it's oh so worth it.
